The Chic Coat Trends We’re Loving

By now, you know that a chic winter coat is an absolute must. No matter if you’re headed toward lots of snowy days or a more breezy Spring, these tips on selecting coats and jackets will help you confidently style your outfits during the cold weather months. Keep scrolling and tell us in the comments — which of these chic coat trends is your favorite?

Prep School Plaids

Last year, everything we saw from the fashion crowd was all about Western-inspired looks. This year, however, we’ve fully embraced the world of preppy chic. Think: dark hunter green and navy blue, tartan style plaids, sophisticated stripes, and lots of luxurious tailoring.

Pair these heavy prints with neutrals or solid color wardrobe options like denim (shop the latest styles here) and a pair of sleek black booties like the curated pair Rita has selected for you here.

Trench Coats

A classic trench coat is such an absolute wardrobe essential. Trench coats are classically cool and always versatile — which makes a trench ideal for both rainy and breezy weather. We’re loving this option in a dark caramel color or even in a black leather, both of which will move well between seasons from Winter to Spring.

A trench coat also works superbly for colder days with the addition of layers like a comfy cable knit sweater and scarf or even a lightweight jacket.

Blazers

From basic to double breasted, blazer jackets are “in” again. This style piece is always a safe bet across seasons because it’s absolutely timeless, classy and exudes an effortlessness. While we’re seeing shorter, cropped styles on the younger crowd, all ages can wear the “lapelless” styles that are simultaneously retro and modern.

We’re also a big fan of choosing blazers in different prints, textures and fabrics such as houndstooth and leather.

Faux Fur

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: fur (real or not) is so hot right now. Year after year, it remains a perennial favorite of the stylish crowd.

You can go “full fur” with a calf length coat or select a wardrobe piece that uses light touches of fur in the details around the collar, sleeves or hemline. And of course, pairing your fur with a leather (real or faux) bag, gloves or high heel shoe will perfect the look.
