Coats are a timeless accessory. Whether you live in a northern climate with tundra-like winters, or a tropical climate that never drops below 65 degrees in the coldest months, a good coat or jacket is a necessity for any stylish wardrobe. I’ve put together some of my favorite styling tips for rocking a cold weather outfit so you can feel confident at every occasion.
Camel Coats
When it comes to winter fashion, camel is a hot color for any occasion! The color alone is chic and elegant. It also works well with every color in your wardrobe — including black.
Mixing brown and black together is often talked about as a fashion faux pas. But the light, dusty tone of a camel coat is a flawless match with your favorite black sweater and black dress pants.
Camel coats also look great over a crisp, white blouse and jeans, or your favorite LBD (little black dress) with tall boots. The personal style options with camel-colored coats are endless.
Transforming a Casual Coat into Classy Couture
Ever wonder how you can get a couture piece without the couture price tag?
I have a few quick styling tips to help you turn a simple blazer into a high-priced designer piece. Blazers from designers like Pierre Balmain or Veronica Beard can run anywhere from $495.00 – $2,000.00 USD. These designers are known for having gorgeous blazers with gold buttons going down the lapels on both sides.
You can replicate this high-fashion look by simply adding gold buttons to your own favorite blazer.
I had my seamstress remove the old black buttons on my blazer and replace them with gold old ones that I purchased. If you know how to sew, you can do it yourself.
Voila! You have yourself an expensive, couture blazer without the couture price tag! This is a stylish addition to any winter wardrobe. You can pair your blazer with dark colors for a more formal outfit, or add in some color for a classy daytime look.
How to Style a Motorcycle Jacket
Sure, motorcycle jackets are cool and have been around forever. But they started out as utility jackets for tough motorcycle enthusiasts and have evolved into a chic personal style accessory with a bit of edginess– and a touch of the unexpected.
If you’re getting ready for a night out, a motorcycle jacket pairs perfectly with your favorite blouse, pencil skirt and pump heels! For climates where it gets cool at night, a thin leather motorcycle jacket is great over a maxi dress.
Which of these winter looks is your favorite? I hope that these fashion tips on wearing coats and jackets help you confidently style your winter outfits during the cold-weather months.
